Schug Carneros Chardonnay was the only winery from the United States to receive a Gold Medal at the 2005 edition of the Chardonnay Du Monde competition held in France. In this year's competition 1090 Chardonnay samples from 37 countries were presented to a panel of international judges. While the 2003 Schug Carneros Chardonnay received a gold, their 2003 “Heritage Reserve” was awarded a silver. Only four other USA wineries received medals.WXPort

The Schug Carneros Chardonnay 2003 was ranked in 1st position out of 31 samples in its category (placing it in the top 64 out of the 1090 wines from all over the world).

Judges tasted in accordance with the international rules proposed by the International Vineyard and Wine Office (OIV), and they strictly followed quality assurance procedures.

Schug Carneros Estate Winery has won an award every year since first entering the competition. For the past six consecutive years they have won a Gold or Silver medal for their Chardonnays.
